GENERAL INFO
"Compte" is primarily a masculine noun meaning "account" or "count." It can also be a conjugated form of the verb "compter" (to count, to matter, to rely on).
USAGE
As a noun: "un compte bancaire" (a bank account), "le compte rendu" (the report/summary). As a verb form: "Ça compte beaucoup" (That matters a lot). "Il compte ses sous" (He counts his money).
TRAPS
Don't confuse the noun "un compte" with the verb form. Also, while related, "count" in English (as in "to count on someone") is often "compter sur quelqu'un" in French, not just "compte."
