Notes
GENERAL INFO
connais is a conjugated form of the verb "connaître" (to know, to be familiar with). It is the 1st person singular (je connais) and 2nd person singular (tu connais) in the present indicative tense.
USAGE
It refers to knowing people, places, or things through experience or familiarity.
Examples: "Je connais Paul." (I know Paul.) "Tu connais cette ville ?" (Do you know this city?).
TRAPS
Do not confuse connais with "sais" (from "savoir"). "Connaître" is for familiarity (person, place, thing). "Savoir" is for knowing facts, information, or how to do something.
Example: "Je sais la réponse." (I know the answer.)
