Notes

GENERAL INFO

Entendu is the past participle of the verb "entendre" (to hear). It can also function as an adjective or an interjection.

USAGE

As a past participle, it's used in compound tenses: "J'ai entendu la musique" (I heard the music).

As an interjection, "Entendu!" means "Understood!" or "Okay!". "C'est entendu" means "It's agreed" or "It's settled."

TRAPS

While "Entendu!" implies understanding, remember entendu primarily means "heard."

Don't automatically use it as a direct synonym for "understood" ("compris").

Also, watch for past participle agreement if a direct object precedes the verb (e.g., "La musique que j'ai entendue...").
