Font is the 3rd person plural conjugation of the verb faire (to do, to make). It means "they do" or "they make."

USAGE

It's used when the subject is plural (ils, elles, or a plural noun).

Examples: *Ils font leurs devoirs.* (They do their homework.) *Les enfants font du bruit.* (The children are making noise.)

TRAPS

Do not confuse font with *ils ont* (they have) from the verb *avoir*. Also, it's a false friend with the English word "font" (typography).
