Moi is a stressed (disjunctive) pronoun meaning "me" or "I" for emphasis.

USAGE

Use moi after prepositions (e.g., *pour moi*, *avec moi*), for emphasis (*Moi, je suis prêt.*), in short answers (*Qui ? Moi.*), or with *c'est* (*C'est moi*). It also appears in compound subjects/objects (*Paul et moi*).

TRAPS

Do not confuse moi with *je*. *Je* is always the subject directly before a verb (*Je parle*). Moi stands alone or is used for stress; it never directly precedes a conjugated verb as its subject.
