GENERAL INFO
Quelqu'un means "someone" or "somebody." It is an indefinite pronoun, referring to an unspecified person.
USAGE
Use it to refer to an unknown individual. It is common in affirmative sentences and questions.
Examples: "J'ai vu quelqu'un." (I saw someone.) "Quelqu'un est là?" (Is someone there?)
You can also use "qui" after it: "Quelqu'un qui parle français." (Someone who speaks French.)
TRAPS
Quelqu'un is always singular masculine, even if referring to a woman or a group.
Do not confuse it with "quelque chose" (something). Its negative form is "personne" (no one).
