GENERAL INFO
Voilà is an interjection meaning "here it is," "there it is," or "that's it." It's derived from *vois là* ("see there"). It's invariable.
USAGE
It's used to present something (*Voilà votre commande.* - Here is your order), conclude an action (*J'ai fini, voilà.* - I'm done, that's it), or draw attention to a situation (*Et voilà le problème.* - And there's the problem).
TRAPS
Avoid confusing voilà with *voici*. *Voici* typically refers to something physically closer or about to be introduced. Voilà often refers to something further away, already established, or as a concluding remark.
